New York Fashion Week 2018 Takeover

INIKA Organic takes over New York Fashion Week | INIKA Organic NZ | 01

INIKA Organic has become the first Australian, and 100% natural beauty brand to be invited to create makeup looks for the runway shows of not one, but two high-profile designers; Tadashi Shoji and House of Nonie.

After a great deal of interest in INIKA Organic, we chose to work with two designers who embrace a move towards cruelty-free and vegan fashion. Both shows featuring INIKA Organic makeup artistry were completely free from fur and feathers, with the House of Nonie show being 100% vegan.

With two contrasting looks created for each designer, the first show to feature INIKA Organic was the galactic-inspired runway from American-based, Japanese designer - Tadashi Shoji. With a legacy of creating gowns that are renowned for their femininity, Tadashi has a clear vision for the show,

"Spring 2019 is inspired by going to space and the feeling of hope, because the future is bright." Tadashi Shoji - SS19 inspiration.

With lead makeup artist, Pep Gay at the helm, INIKA Organic brought Tadashi's vision to life with a fresh approach and new techniques.

"This INIKA Organic look has been inspired by the beauty and vastness of the galaxy. There is Pink Poppy on the lips and also across the cheeks to create consistency in the colour palette and the nourishing lip serum has been used to affix the biodegradable glitter without glue or harsh chemicals." Pep Gay - INIKA Organic Lead MUA.

The second show saw INIKA Organic create a Meghan Markle-inspired look to the runway for Canadian designer, Nina Kharey's, House of Nonie. After reaching cult-status when the Duchess of Sussex recently wore a blush-pink sleeveless trench at an event in July, House of Nonie chose INIKA Organic to pay homage to Ms. Markle's effortless style and grace and bring their dream makeup look to life. New York based, Australian makeup artist, Campbell Ritchie took the lead to help design the classically-modern look that was featured at the show.

Campbell Ritchie is a cruelty-free makeup artist who is also a vegan and was delighted to create the look using 100% natural and ethical INIKA Organic products.

"I made the hard decision last year to get rid of every single product in my kit that wasn't cruelty-free or that was too synthetic. I now only embrace brands that I truly believe in, and INIKA Organic has the perfect range to create this regal look. Every model's skin was glowing with luminosity and vitality, and all of the girls were saying how much they loved having a natural product on their skin, especially since it created this iconic and glamorous look." Campbell Ritchie - INIKA Organic Lead MUA.

It-girls at NYFW were seen wearing our Certified Organic Vegan Lipstick in Pink Poppy and After Dark, emphasising the impact this 100% natural and organic, cruelty-free and vegan cosmetics brand had on the week.

"It's very exciting to see the number one Australian luxury beauty brand taking the lead of NYFW runways and this is just the start, we want designers everywhere to know that we are dedicated to being the professional makeup brand to offer them an ethical alternative to complete the vision for their shows." Celia - INIKA Organic Global Brand Manager.
